Questions and Answers

How many more people will have health insurance under obamacare?

What are estimates for the number of people to whom coverage will be extended (who would otherwise have been uninsured) and when will that coverage begin? Please cite sources.

According to WHOM?

Last I heard, Nancy Pelosi said after the law was activated (which is actually 2014) we'd have 96% of the country insured – as compared to about 85% now.

HOWEVER. I think we're going to have closer to 75% insured, if that – a decrease – because the way the law is written, insurance companies are going to have to INCREASE their rates substantially, and people have to buy the insurance FIRST, for a year, before getting 'tax credits' on their income tax returns, to "help pay" for the insurance – which would be at increased rates.

More people will be uninsured, because fewer people will be able to afford the coverage, and employers will be discouraged from offering benefits to their employees (as the fines will be LESS than the employer's cost to contribute to the increased rate insurance plan).

Net result? The politicians will propose "national health care" as a solution, as their other "solution" backfired. Hopefully the sheeple won't fall for it.

What percentage of employees health insurance will employers be required to pay under Obamacare?

Is there a maximum deductible allowed?

If private insurance does not meet every demand by the govt. Than they can't sell their insurance. It will be cheaper for companies to drop their current insurance and pay a fine. This would push/force employees on to obamacare because private insurance would skyrocket. If the employee/citizen chooses not to have insurance than they will be sent to prison. This was done on purpose to create a single-payer system. The progressives don't care about health care, it is all about power and control.

Will your health insurance go up under Obamacare? How much?

If you are very old or very ill, your insurance premiums will probably not go up drastically, BUT if you are very young and/or very HEALTHY you are going to pay through the nose to make up for the old and the sick and for all of the things that Insurers are being forced to pay for like birth control and abortions.

One big big thing that most people don't realize is that doctors and hospitals are not REQUIRED to accept medicare. Most do now but many will not after Obamacare.

Well I don't know how common my situation is. I am middle-aged, self-employed. So for a long time I was using my wife's insurance from her employer. Then she got sick (breast cancer) and had to go on disability, so I went out looking for my own insurance.

All the offers I got were about the same. About $750/mo–not for a family of four, just for me! And I could afford that. It would be a hardship, but I could do it. BUT that $750/month is with a $4500 yearly deductible, so I end up paying anyway for all the health care i actually get. AND, if I'm 'lucky' enough have a serious accident or a heart attack or cancer, after the deductible they pay HALF! So we still end up bankrupt and on the street.

So I don't have health insurance. My strategy at this point is just to be careful and stay out of trouble until I get Medicare in a few years. I've done fine for the last few years.

I don't know if Obamacare will help me. If it helps more people get insurance then I'm all for it. At the very worst, I will pay a 'fine' or a 'tax' (what's the difference?) of no more than 1% of my income. And since Obama has lowered my taxes more than that, I'm still money ahead!

As for Medicare, my wife got on Medicare. She had a supplemental 'Part D' plan, that cost $75/mo. She got excellent care, and I was very grateful it was available to her.
